Does double deal mean Lines is off to Bristol Rovers?
Port Vale’s deals with Yeovil’s Sam Foley and player of the year Michael O’Connor could see playmaker Chris Lines make a permanent switch to Bristol Rovers.
Lines has made no secret of his desire to return to his boyhood club on a permanent basis and the move would appear to suit both clubs.
The only sticking points would appear to be whether Vale will demand an exorbitant fee for a player who still has a year left on his contract and whether Rovers can afford his wages.
O’Connor and Foley are widely expected to be first-choice in central midfield next season with veterans Michael Brown and Chris Birchall (who are both expected to sign new deals soon) as vastly experienced back-up.
It means that even if he did stay, Lines would have a struggle to get into the current Vale starting eleven.
