Tim Parkin player profile:
Tim Parkin was a vastly experienced centre-half who was signed by Port Vale FC for a fee of £60,000 from Swindon Town in 1989.
Parkin had begun his career with Blackburn Rovers and had also had lengthy spells with Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town.
Valiants manager felt that he needed cover for first-choice pairing Neil Aspin and Dean Glover while Parkin’s six foot frame also gave an additional aerial presence to the backline.
The 32 year-old made twelve appearances in the 1989-1990 season and scored his only goal for the club in a 2-1 defeat to Oldham Athletic. The veteran featured even more in 1990-1991 making 32 appearances. However, he lost his place in 1991 and was loaned to Shrewsbury Town in September. At the end of the season, he was handed a free transfer and later joined Darlington where he ended his playing career.
