Page: We can’t feel sorry for ourselves
Rob Page says that Port Vale have to pick themselves up after a “hard to take” last-gasp Scunthorpe equaliser on Tuesday night.
Vale looked to be heading to a vital away win until the home side equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time. It comes on the back of a 95th minute winner for Rochdale on Easter Monday.
I need everybody to back me, and to back the players, and we go again on Friday…
Page told the media: “I don’t want any defeatist attitudes around the place, I have just said that to the players.
“I don’t want any negative talk, it was points that we have lost in the 95th minute again – or two points we have thrown away.
“It is hard to take right now. It is exactly the same feeling as after the Rochdale game but I don’t want anybody being negative around us at this minute.
“I have to pick a group of lads up in the changing room and I need everybody to back me, and to back the players, and we go again on Friday.
“It is a tough game for us but we go again and we give that level of performance, but eradicate the little mistakes and we go again. That is all we can do.
“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves, that gets you nowhere. We dust ourselves down and we go again.”
