Ken Wookey was a Welsh footballer who began his career with Newport County. He spent five years with County before moving to Port Vale in 1969. Manager Gordon Lee signing the forward who became a part of the Port Vale 1969-70 Fourth Division promotion season.
Wookey scored his first goal in a game against Northampton Town in August 1969 and went on to score four times that season. However, by February 1970 he had lost his first-team place and was given a free transfer at the end of the season.
He later joined Workington Town and a number of other non-league sides including Salisbury City and Chard Town. He also became the manager of a handful of non-league sides after retiring from playing. He finished his playing career with over a hundred Football League appearances.
