Former England International Colin Grainger signed for Port Vale for a fee of £6,000.
He was initially a regular and played a starring role in a shock FA Cup win over his former club Sunderland.
However, he lost his place in August 1963 and was transferred to Doncaster Rovers.
Grainger was known as the “singing winger” due to a second career as a singer. After retiring as a player he took up a singing career.
