Chris Killen was a powerful New Zealand International striker who enjoyed a prolific spell at Port Vale FC while on loan from Manchester City.
Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Killen was a product of the Manchester City youth system. The striker had already been sent on loan to Wrexham before he joined Brian Horton’s Port Vale side on loan in September 2001. Killen scored on his debut against former club Wrexham and he scored five more times during his ten game loan spell.
The forward was recalled by Manchester City in November and he played a handful of first-team games. He left Man City in 2002 when Oldham Athletic paid £250,000 for his services and he also had spells with Hibernian, Celtic, Norwich City and Middlesbrough before he made a move to China in 2010. He also won 48 caps for his country and scored 16 goals.
