Ainsworth set to play again?
Former Port Vale legend Gareth Ainsworth says that an injury crisis could see him registering himself as a player.
Ainsworth is currently the manager of Wycombe Wanderers and he originally ‘finished’ his playing career in 2013 following a 1-1 draw with Port Vale.
Wycombe are currently in the third promotion spot in League Two but have suffered a number of injuries to their small squad. The former winger told the Bucks Free Press: “There’s every chance . We’ve got a small squad.
“I’ll definitely think about cleaning my boots this week but there’s no way I’ll be playing centre half.”
Ainsworth is Port Vale’s record purchase and record sale. He joined Vale in 1997 for £500,000 and was sold to Wimbledon for £2m in 1998.
