Experienced striker Michael Chopra is on trial with the Valiants, the Sentinel reports.
The 31 year-old forward has returned from a spell in the Indian Premier League and is a free agent. However, the veteran does come with some “baggage” (notably issues with gambling) so Vale will want to be cautious before offering the player any deal.
Chopra has experience of the Championship, most recently with Blackpool and the club will doubtless be hoping he could provide a boost in much the same way that Lee Hughes did during the 2012/13 season.
The newspaper adds that Chopra is not the only trialist at the club as the Vale consider possible new additions.
