Vale Legends No.3 – the Port Vale MBE routine
A new series of videos by OVF celebrate the achievements of key Vale players or officials. Our aim is to sum up their work for the club in a matter of minutes. This one looks at the Port Vale MBE routine.
The Port Vale MBE routine was a highly successful corner-kick routine from the late 1980’s.
It involved right-back Simon Mills‘ corner being flicked on by striker Darren Beckford for midfielder Robbie Earle to finish.
An example of the routine was the winning goal against Bristol Rovers in the 1989 play-off final second-leg.
The name of the routine was taken from the first letters of each player’s name.
