Vale’s defensive headache as Streete leaves
Port Vale’s defensive options for the Rochdale game have become even more limited after impressive loanee Remie Streete was recalled by parent club Newcastle United.
Streete had signed an extension to his Vale loan deal but has been recalled by Newcastle after they suffered defensive problems of their own. The timing is unfortunate as Vale had only just allowed another loanee, Stephane Zubar, to leave.
Vale face a mounting problem at the back for the game against Rochdale. Streete is now unavailable while Ryan McGiven and Richard Duffy are both suspended and Adam Yates is an injury concern.
Freddie Veseli and Chris Robertson were paired at centre-half for the reserves and the pair now look likely to play together for the first-team. Captain Carl Dickinson is set to return at left-back while the club will be hoping that reliable Yates will be fit enough to play at right-back. Youngster Reiss Greenidge may be promoted to the bench.
