Opposing views: Preston
Preston fan Phillip Rigby gives his view on the match against Port Vale on Saturday.
1. Tell us about yourself?
My name is Phillip Rigby, I am from Preston, 27 years old and have supported PNE for about 6 years.
2. How has the season been so far?
I really expect us to build on last season we have had a good season so far but been a little bit sloppy conceding goals, the squad we have is Championship quality, in my opinion. My predicted finish would be top two.
3. Who are the dangermen?
The main danger men for Preston is Joe Garner our top goal scorer and very popular with the North End faithful, but there are threats from midfield also with the youthful Browne and Brownhill providing attacking prowess with Reid and Humphrey with pace on the wings and Gallagher creating chances – so quite a few threats.
4. What are your views on the manager?
My thoughts on the manager Simon Grayson are that he got his transfer business out the way early on in the summer he has a great record in this league before, he knows how to motivate and talk to players and how to get the best out his squads a good man manger.
5. What are your views on the board?
The board has changed over the years and now we have Risdale and Hemmings who both have backed the manager when he has wanted to strengthen the playing staff, and in my opinion it is a lot better than it was.
6. Which Vale player should you sign?
I can only think of one player and that would be Tom Pope. I think he and Garner would compliment each other quite well and would score a lot of goals between them.
7. Where do you think Vale will finish?
I think Vale might just stay up but will have a battle as there are some teams around them who they think they should be beating but on their day anybody can beat anybody. I think Vale they will finish in the bottom half.
8. Your favourite match between the two sides?
The away game last season where there was some confusion over a red card as it as shown to the wrong player. The game was a scrappy affair but I will remember it for all the right reasons being a PNE fan!
9. The scoreline?
3-1 to PNE (Garner 2, Gallagher and Pope).
