Following a dispute between the club and its Port Vale in the Community scheme, Nixon has arranged for rent-free premises for the community operation because he “was worried about how the trust could do their work, such as going into schools or helping disabled people. How can the club compete with Stoke City if it doesn’t have a Community Trust that’s working with kids and at grass roots level?”
The Trust’s chairman (and former Supporters Club chairman) Pete Williams added that “Jason introduced me to a consortium made up of local, Asian, middle-eastern businessmen who are very interested in opening talks with Mr Smurthwaite to purchase and invest to move the football club forward.”
