The Sentinel reports that Port Vale are still optimistic about signing Michael O’Connor and are also interested in adding veteran Michael Brown .
The O’Connor deal looked in jeopardy on Thursday after the midfielder tweeted that he was not prepared to take a 60% wages cut but the newspaper claims that the deal could still be alive.
Vale are keen to add new faces ahead of their summer tour of the South West next week and 37 year-old Brown, who has been training with the squad, could be a further addition.
The Valiants are short of numbers in midfield and trialist Steve Jennings is another possibility. Jennings is set to play in Saturday’s friendly at Alfreton.
