Rumours on social media suggest that out-of-contract Tranmere Rovers midfielder Steve Jennings could be training with the Valiants.
This feature contains rumour and speculation. All of these rumours should be treated as unconfirmed gossip until any move is officially announced by the club itself. We make no apologies for publishing some rumour and gossip (after all, even the state broadcaster, the BBC, publishes a daily Football Gossip column) but we’d just like to reiterate that this feature should not be treated too seriously.
This photograph, posted on Twitter by the official Port Vale website is purported by some Twitter users to show Jennings (left) in training with the Vale squad on Tuesday:
The 29 year-old ball-winning midfielder was offered a new deal by Rovers in the summer but has yet to agree a new contract. Vale are in the market for a central midfielder after seeing Anthony Griffith, Billy Knott and Doug Loft all leave the club at the end of last season.
Jennings began his career with Tranmere after progressing through the team’s junior ranks. He then moved to SPL side Motherwell for a three year spell. After leaving Motherwell, he signed a two-year deal with Coventry but their well-publicised financial problems saw him sidelined for several months before he returned to Tranmere for a second spell in October 2013.
