Rumour: Forte on trial?
Online rumours suggest that well-traveled Barbados International striker Jonathan Forte could be one of Vale’s three trialists.
Editorial Note
This feature contains rumour and speculation. All of these rumours should be treated as unconfirmed gossip until any move is officially announced by the club itself. We make no apologies for publishing some rumour and gossip (after all, even the state broadcaster, the BBC, publishes a daily Football Gossip column) but we’d just like to reiterate that this feature should not be treated too seriously.
Vale will be playing three trialists in the game against Newcastle Town. Steve Jennings is one of them but the identities of the other two are unknown. The Valiants have been linked with several strikers, so could free agent Forte be one of the mystery men?
27 year-old Forte was released by Premier League side Southampton at the end of the season and he’s already made 13 moves (the majority of them loans) during his career.
The former England U18 International has been capped by Barbados and has been troubled with injury recently. He last played when he spent a spell on loan at Sheffield United back in January 2013.
