Frustrated Adams isn’t panicking
A “frustrated” Micky Adams says that “things have not quite dropped our way” as he looks to make additions to his threadbare Vale squad.
The Vale manager wants a squad of 21 for the new season but currently the number of players who have agreed new deals stands at 14 with one of those (Kaid Mohamed) on loan.
There has been no official announcements on Nathan Smith, Ryan Lloyd, Jordan Hugill or Joe Davis who were offered new deals back on the 2nd May. Davis has been linked with a move to Leicester City and Hugill with a switch to Preston. Even if all four stayed with the Vale, it would still leave the club three players short of Adams’ target of 21.
Adams told the Sentinel: “It might be the case that we have to look at a few trialists or loan deals because things have not quite dropped our way.
“But I have no causes for concern at the moment. We are trying to strengthen the side. We have been frustrated with different efforts, but we will continue to work hard to bring players in.”
An uncertain future?
