Adams: a ‘real fight’ for number one
Manager Micky Adams has said there is no guarantee that Chris Neal will be his first choice next season after he was impressed with youngster Sam Johnson.
Johnson stood in for Neal in the latter part of last season, but prior to that, Neal was acknowledged as one of Adams’ best signings and was named as the players’ player of the year last season. In addition to Johnson and Neal, Vale also boast Ryan Boot whom the club have high hopes for in the future.
Adams clearly wants to create competition for the goalkeeping shirt and he told the Sentinel: “I think we have three decent goalkeepers and there will be real competition.
