I’m no conspiracy theorist, but why the delay?
OVF editor Rob Fielding is baffled as to why a “straightforward” contract with “no problems” and already in the hands of solicitors is taking so long…
Rob Fielding writes…
I’m puzzled at the moment.
Why? Well, after months of delays, controversy and waiting, an interview given to the Sentinel seemed to be definitive – Micky Adams would finally commit his future to the club in the next few days.
The words used by the manager himself were that the contract was “with his solicitors”, the process “straightforward” and that he’d “not heard that there is a problem…

The problem is – that was seven days ago. And yet, Adams has still not signed.
Before I delve into that delay, let me declare – I would be delighted if Micky Adams stays. I’d be equally delighted if that contract signing occurred now and made this piece on the “delay” immediately irrelevant.
Anyway, back to that delay… there are two elements that interest me:
Firstly, the news that the Vale season ticket May deadline has been put back seven days – which some supporters may think could be linked with delays in these contract “formalities”…
Secondly, that after Brian Flynn looked certain to be appointed Blackpool manager, the club performed an abrupt “u-turn” and Flynn is not to be appointed. The job at Broomfield Road appears to be wide-open and if you’re on the club’s “top six shortlist” you’d probably fancy your chances. Some fans could probably link this with the delay in Adams signing too…
Adams himself gave this sort of speculation short shrift, seven days ago, labelling some fans as “conspiracy theorists” but with all due respect to the Vale manager, his actions speak louder than words.
As the time taken for him to sign this contract drags on, with no update from either manager nor club… well, is it really any wonder that people are speculating?

However, a word in your ear Mr Adams, it’s not because we’re looking for “conspiracies” that us fans are discussing you so much, it’s simply that as fans we love and care for this club. And we don’t want or indeed need a “conspiracy” Micky…
…we just want you and Norman to sign the bleeding contract!
