Adams signing could take a fortnight
Chairman Norman Smurthwaite has told the Sentinel that “I really believe Micky is going to sign” but it could be another FORTNIGHT before the contract is formally agreed. There are concerns that delays to Adams either agreeing a new contract or walking away will impact the club’s preparations for the next season with players more reluctant to commit themselves until the manager’s position is clear and the uncertainty arguably affecting season ticket sales.
Many fans will be desperate to see Adams sign as the departure of the manager in mid-summer with no obvious replacement at hand could be disastrous for the club’s closed season plans.
I really believe Micky is going to sign. The time it is taking is just because of our overlapping plans…
Smuthwaite told the newspaper: “I really believe Micky is going to sign. The time it is taking is just because of our overlapping plans.
“He is away at the moment and I am away next week so we have to wait.
“But it is business as usual at Port Vale and we have a daily dialogue as chairman and manager.”
