Adams reveals Ryan Lowe bid
Manager Micky Adams has revealed that he once tried to sign Tranmere top scorer Ryan Lowe for the Valiants.
He was one of the players who I spoke to in pre-season and we couldn’t quite get it over the line, but he has gone there and scored the goals, which I thought he would do…
Speaking before Vale’s match against Lowe’s Tranmere side, the Vale manager commented: “They have got a good goal scorer in Ryan Lowe, who has scored goals at all levels. I tried to get him here at the start of last season. He was one of the players who I spoke to in pre-season and we couldn’t quite get it over the line, but he has gone there and scored the goals, which I thought he would do.”
Adams’ bid was presumably when the club had been boosted by a cash injection by prospective owner Keith Ryder.
On June 21, Lowe decided to cancel his contract with Milton Keynes and join Tranmere Rovers. Several days later, Adams unveiled the signings of Darren Murphy, Jennison Myrie-Williams, Richard Duffy and Ashley Vincent.
Lowe is currently Tranmere’s top scorer with 19 goals so far this season.
