Macc sign third former Valiant
Macclesfield Town have taken their Vale contigent to three with the loan signing of a former Valiants striker.
Akpo Sodje has joined Macc on loan from Tranmere Rovers.
There has been a trend in recent years for former Valiants to re-emerge in clusters.
In 2012-2013, Mansfield Town had an impressive SIX former Valiants on their books – Louis Briscoe, George Pilkington, Ritchie Sutton, Gary Roberts, Exodus Geogaghan and Jake Speight – and that was before Town snapped up John McCombe in the summer of 2013.
Now, close on the heels of Chesterfield, who boast FOUR former Valiants, Macclesfield Town appear to be keen to recreate the 2006-2007 side with THREE former Valiants of their own.
Danny Whitaker joined Macc in the summer and he has now been joined by former Vale team mates George Pilkington (on loan from Mansfield) and the afore-mentioned Sodje (on loan from Tranmere).
All three played together in Vale’s 2006-2007 season.
