Duo confident ahead of Crewe clash
Vale defenders Adam Yates and Jack Grimmer are both looking forward to the weekend’s game against local rivals Crewe.
We need as many fans as we can get on Saturday to intimidate their team and to get us going…
Yates told the official Port Vale website: “I played there for many years and them coming here after we got a good result there earlier on in the season adds a lot of extra spice to it.
“They are having to find points thick and fast and I am sure that they are going to come here and have a right go and that can only set us up for another fantastic game at Vale Park.
“We need as many fans as we can get on Saturday to intimidate their team and to get us going.
“I am surprised they are struggling because they are a good team. Sometimes people think they overplay but I know through having played them earlier in the season, they certainly dug in and they gave us a little bit back. That certainly isn’t reflective of the Crew teams over the years – after that game I thought there would be no problem with them staying up.
“But they look like they are going to be dragged into it and we have got to make sure if they are there to be beaten on Saturday we have got to go out there and punish them and I am sure that every Vale fan that you ask would want that.”
You are going to try to do everything you can for the supporters in any match that means that much to them…
Fellow defender Jack Grimmer added: “You are going to try to do everything you can for the supporters in any match that means that much to them.
“I am definitely looking forward to tasting my first local derby and hopefully we can get three points.”
