Team news
Joe Davis: Returns to the Vale side
Vale look to be boosted considerably in terms of numbers. Joe Davis and Jack Grimmer are available after being ineligible for the FA Cup game against Plymouth while new loan signing Forent Cuvelier could replace the suspended Chris Lines.
We wonder whether Grimmer will line-up at right-back after Micky Adams hinted that he was originally planning on playing the youngster there. If Grimmer plays as full-back, Joe Davis could partner Chris Robertson allowing Carl Dickinson to move to left-back and Doug Loft to return to midfield.
Oldham loanees Gary Harkins and David Worrall are pushing for starts.
Possible starting eleven:
Neal
Grimmer Robertson Davis Dickinson
Myrie-Williams Loft Cuvelier
Pope Hugill Williamson
Pre-match quotes
Micky Adams: Wants all three points
“We want the three points so I think what we will do is look at the squad that we have got available to us and tinker with it a little bit and pick an eleven to go and win the game. Jack Grimmer will obviously come into that equation. Joe Davis will be fresh because he didn’t play the other night for whatever reason and we will add Flo Cuvelier.”
– Micky Adams
“Vale are a good side with a good manager, especially at this level, having won promotion several times. I expect them to be a mixture of our last two opponents. They can be physical and direct but they can also play. We will have to compete with that and make sure we play our game too.”
– Lee Johnson
