Adams: We may need a couple of players
Manager Micky Adams believes that the Port Vale squad would need to be strengthened if the club were to make a realistic play-off challenge.
All I am saying is that to be better equipped to have an assault on the play-offs, we may need a couple of players…
Adams told the Sentinel newspaper: “I have told the boys I am really pleased with their efforts, 2013 has been fantastic.
“Now, are we good enough to get where we want to go, which is into the play-offs?
“I don’t think we are good enough for automatic promotion, let’s be honest about that, but as for the play-offs, we are not that far away.
“Are we really good enough to get in there? I think personally that we might need a couple of additions to strengthen the squad, but only time will tell on that one.
“I never shout from the roof tops about anything, all I am saying is that to be better equipped to have an assault on the play-offs, we may need a couple of players.
“When I say that, I am talking about players who are going to make a difference, not just bringing in players to supplement the squad.
“We are a little bit light at the moment in terms of injuries and suspensions, but as you have seen, whoever we put in there always puts a shift in.”
