Port Vale suffered the loss of left-back Dan Jones and conceded three goals as they lost to Milton Keynes on Saturday.
Manager Micky Adams made two changes with Liam Chilvers coming in for the injured Adam Yates and Dan Jones coming in for Griffith. Jones and Duffy took the full-back roles, Dickinson partnering Robertson and Dickinson moving into midfield.
However, the Vale got off to a dreadful start as they treated the home side with far too much respect. Gleeson and the impressive Reeves put Milton Keynes 2-0 up after just 13 minutes with two long-range efforts and when the prolific Bamford made it 3-0 on the half-hour, and the lucless Jones departed through injury, the game was already lost for the Valiants.
The home side could really have added more to their tally but Vale managed to hold on to make it 3-0 at the break.
The second period was a little better for the Valiants with a number of half-chances for Pope, Myrie-Williams and Tomlin but the game was effectively lost in the opening half-hour.
To rub salt into Vale wounds, Lines picked up his fifth booking and will join Jones on the sidelines.
