Vale face minnows but will tie be on TV?
Shortwood United defeated Aldershot Town 2-1 in an FA Cup fourth round qualifying replay on Tuesday night to earn a place in the first round proper against Port Vale.
The Gloucestershire side, who play in the Southern League Division One South & West, are the lowest ranked team left in the competition and speculation is rife that their home tie against the Valiants could be televised.
It would be an unusual situation for the Valiants who are usually cast in the role of potential giantkillers when cup ties are on TV.
However, with Vale not having the greatest record against non-league opponents in recent years (Canvey Island or Chasetown anyone?) it would not be surprising if the game was broadcast live.
Where will it be held?
The Meadowbank stadium is the club’s fourth ground although it is not clear if the ground will be allowed to stage the tie. Access by coach is already restricted so the police may ask the club to move the game to an alternative location, possibly neighbours Forest Green.
