Adams hints at ‘surprise’ for Crawley game
Micky Adams is demanding a response from his side following the 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United and has even hinted at springing a surprise in his quest to arrest the side’s recent poor form.
We played 70 minutes with 10 men so we will alter it accordingly. I might spring a surprise…
Adams told the media: “The way we recover from Saturday’s game is important so we have given the players a longer period of rest.

It’s perhaps a step too far to expect 21 year-old reserve striker Jordan Hugill to be called upon, but the youngster has impressed with five goals during his loan spell at Gateshead and he was recalled to Vale Park over the weekend.
But Adams is likely to attempt a change in personnel to try and combat Vale’s poor goalscoring record this season. Tom Pope has been an ever-present this season but could Adams be tempted to rest the popular forward who has failed to score in the last five games?
The other option would be to provide Pope with the wing service he thrives on and in which case, the likes of Jennison Myrie-Williams and Kaid Mohamed may come into contention.
One change is certain with Dan Jones suspended and he is likely to be replaced at left-back by the returning Carl Dickinson.
