Grew rules out loan additions
Assistant manager Mark Grew says that the club will not add any loan signings to their squad as it contains plenty of depth.
What’s the point of bringing bodies in unless it’s really going to improve you?
The loan window re-opened this week and several Football League clubs have been busy adding new players to their squads.
But Grew told the Sentinel: “At this minute, I don’t think we need anything. Popey is scoring goals, and you can see from our bench that anyone who came on in Saturday’s game wouldn’t weaken our side. What’s the point of bringing bodies in unless it’s really going to improve you?”
However, one could argue that despite Grew’s comments, the club do remain somewhat under-strength in central defence. With Carl Dickinson currently employed at left-back, there is only youngster Joe Davis as cover for Robertson and Chilvers should one or both of them get injured or suspended.
The club were linked with Mathias Doumbe in the summer and as a free agent he would be free to join the club providing that the club had the revenue to support the signing under the Football League’s fair-play rules.
