Grew praises Hughes’ ‘big’ performance
Assistant manager Mark Grew has praised “leader” Lee Hughes and says the striker put on a “big player” performance against Bradford City.
Lee’s work rate on Saturday was phenomenal…
Vale were under pressure to record their first win in the new division on Saturday and Hughes was on hand to open the scoring for the home side and secure Vale their first positive Football results of the season.
Grew told the Sentinel: “Lee’s work rate on Saturday was phenomenal.
“We are not expecting Lee to play on a Saturday, then a Tuesday and then on the Saturday again.
“But we are fortunate at the moment that we don’t have mid-week games, so he can have his time off and be fresh for Saturday.
“He was a leader on Saturday. The manager said he wanted a ‘big-player’ performance and he certainly got that.”
