Captain Loft signs new Vale deal
Doug Loft signs Port Vale deal: Port Vale FC have announced that club captain Doug Loft has agreed a new contract with the club.
The Port Vale skipper signed on a free transfer with the club back in the summer of 2009 and skippered the club to promotion in the 2012-13 season.
An official Port Vale FC press release stated:
It was never in doubt that I wanted to stay with the club, especially after being part of the side which won promotion last season…
Port Vale is pleased to announce that Doug Loft has signed a one-year contract with the club.
The midfielder put pen to paper today, in a deal which sees him commit to Micky Adams’ men until the summer of 2014.
The midfielder reported back with the rest of the squad for pre-season training last Thursday, as Vale prepare for life in League One.
Said manager Micky Adams: “Doug has made a telling contribution to the squad during his time at Port Vale, both on and off the pitch, and I’m pleased he has decided to sign a new deal with us.
“Sometimes these things take time and it needs to be right for both parties. Doug was always a part of our plans and I’m looking forward to working with him for a further season.”
Added Doug: “It was never in doubt that I wanted to stay with the club, especially after being part of the side which won promotion last season.
“We have all been working hard in pre-season since reporting back last week and I know that everyone is looking forward to the season ahead.”
