Smurthwaite to re-assess playing budget
Norman Smurthwaite has told the Sentinel that he will “make sure there’s enough depth in our squad for next season” as he considers the possibility of increasing Micky Adams’ transfer funds.
I’ve no intention of going into the season to fight for survival…
Smurthwaite told the newspaper: “I want to make sure there’s enough depth in our squad for next season so I’m reviewing the amount of money made available to Micky to ensure it’s realistic for League One and reflects where we are playing.
“I’ve no intention of going into the season to fight for survival and I’m sure no-one else connected with the club wants that either.
“I want us to be competitive, so I’m looking at the figures that Paul came up with to make sure I think they’re right.”
