Birchall named in Gold Cup squad
Port Vale midfielder Chris Birchall has been named in Trinidad and Tobago’s squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament taking place this summer.
Birchall, who played in a friendly against Romania earlier this summer, is joined in the squad by fellow English-based players Kenwyn Jones, Andre Boucard and Justin Hoyte.
The Soca Warriors will line up alongside champions Mexico, United States, Canada, Martinique, Haiti, Cuba, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Panama.
Trinidad open their campaign on July 8 against El Salvador in New Jersey, before playing Haiti in Florida on July 12 and Honduras in Houston on July 15.

Birchall the trailblazer
28 year-old Birchall is the club’s most capped player and the only current Vale player to appear in the World Cup finals. The midfielder has now been picked on 25 occasions by Trinidad and Tobago.
