Adams not ruling out real deal for Dickinson
Micky Adams says that the club may be interested in signing striker Liam Dickinson – but only if the forward can prove his fitness.
Striker Dickinson was linked with a move to Vale as long ago as last summer when he trained with the squad.
But Dickinson was forced to have a further operation on a troublesome ankle injury and the deal never materialised. However, the forward has been training regularly with the club as he continues his rehabilitation.
Manager Adams told the Sentinel: “Liam is one of a number of players we’re looking at. He joined us last pre-season, but it didn’t work out for him.
“He went off and had another ankle operation and he’s still not 100 per cent fit. We’re helping him with rehabilitation.
“If his ankle is good and he has a reasonable amount of fitness, we are in the driving seat to sign him because we know him.
“But whether or not he starts pre-season with us, I don’t know.”
