Fan flies in for Vale celebrations
Port Vale’s end of season celebrations have encouraged fans from far-flung corners to come to the last matches of the season to celebrate the side’s promotion.
I love wingers and Gareth Ainsworth is a legend in my opinion. He was awesome to watch.
One such fan is OVF regular Tony Boulton, an exiled Valiant who has lived in Texas for the last ten years.
Tony has flown back to the UK specifically to take in Vale’s final two games of the season. He was part of the celebrations at the Northampton game and will be attending Saturday’s game against Wycombe.
Tony told OVF: “Last time I was at Vale Park was the League Cup game when we beat Sheffield Wednesday in August of 2009. So Saturday’s game against Northampton was my first home game in four years.
“Saturday will be different to the Northampton game but still an historic day from Vale’s point of view. I love wingers and Gareth Ainsworth is a legend in my opinion. He was awesome to watch.
I first watched Vale regularly in 1959 and Brian Jackson was then wearing number 7 as our right winger. I have loved wingers all along the line, Steve Fox, Jon Mcarthy, Steve Guppy and now Jennison Myrie-Williams is my favourite player.
“Our away from has been great but the game will lack motivation for both teams except we will have a great following there. Let’s go for a 2-0 win, shall we?”
We hope Tone enjoys the game and has a safe trip back to Texas.
