Port Vale’s most capped player, Chris Birchall earned a record-stretching 24th cap while a Vale player but opponents Peru proved too strong for the Trinidad and Tobago side.
28 year-old Birchall started his second International game in a row and had the best chance for the Socawarriors with the midfielder rattling the woodwork in the 52nd minute. However, three goals from the home side saw them run out 3-0 winners.
The home side’s scorers were Jordi Reyna, Paolo Hurtado and Christofer Gonzales.
It has been a good couple of weeks for Birchall who earned his International recall and has forced his way into the Vale starting eleven in recent games.
