Vale trial two players
The Valiants included two trial players as the Port Vale reserves drew 0-0 with Bury on Wednesday afternoon .
Vale took a look at Norwegian Geir André Herrum, aged 25, who has been playing for Bryne FK in Norway’s second division and Whitby Town’s 20-year-old Jordan Hugill, who is a graduate of the Glenn Hoddle Academy.
Current Vale first-teamers Ryan Burge and Ben Williamson were both graduates of the Glenn Hoddle Academy, which appears to have good links with the Valiants.
Hugill is a forward who scored within seven minutes of his debut for Whitby but was then, much like fellow graduate Ryan Burge, ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.
He has now recovered from that injury and is a regular for Whitby alongside former Vale defender Craig James. Hugill has previously had trials at Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
Fellow forward Herrum has played for Estonian champions FC Flora Tallinn before joining Bryne in 2012.
He scored five times in 26 appearances for Bryne FK last season, but enjoyed his most prolific spell at Ålgård FK where he netted 30 goals in two seasons.
Herrum played 77 minutes for the Vale reserves, while Hugill was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
