Striker Lee Hughes told the media that he “really enjoyed” his home debut at Vale Park after his second-half double helped the Valiants overcome Accrington 3-0.
I really enjoyed it I got two goals and three points, that’s the main thing…
Hughes told BBC’s Football League programme that: “The first half was a bit frustrating [and] we needed that goal to open the floodgates.
“I really enjoyed it I got two goals and three points, that’s the main thing.”
Manager Micky Adams also praised Hughes’ performance adding: “I also had a word with Lee Hughes at half-time because I felt he was snatching at a few things and wasn’t as clinical as I’ve seen him – certainly when he’s played against teams I’ve been with in the past.
“But one thing you know about Lee is if he keeps getting chances he will soon start to score goals. He took those two chances very well.”
