Adams: No Vale move for Collins
Manager Micky Adams has told the Sentinel that the club is unlikely to make a move for free agent and former defender Lee Collins.
Collins was released by Championship outfit Barnsley on Thursday and is now a free agent.
But Adams told the newspaper: “Lee has great affinity to this club. I thought he did fantastically well for me, but I can’t see anything happening.”
Collins, who had a spell with Shrewsbury Town on loan earlier this season made 163 appearances during a four year spell with the Valiants.
However, Adams believes that the signings of Daniel Jones and Darren Purse give the Valiants sufficient depth in defence to see out the rest of the season.
Lee Collins Factfile
The versatile defender was initially signed on loan from Wolves in 2008. The deal was made permanent in January 2009. Collins was a regular in the side in either the left-back or centre-half position until 2012 when the club’s move into administration saw him transferred to Barnsley to raise cash in order to keep the club afloat.
