Murphy’s 75 minute Vale career over
Midfielder Darren Murphy has left Port Vale by mutual consent after making just three senior appearances since his summer move.
The luckless Murphy has been best by injury problems since moving to the club on a free transfer in the summer.
The 27 year-old former Stevenage midfielder made just three appearances totalling 75 minutes of first-team action and his final game against Rochdale was perhaps symptomatic of his luckless spell in Burslem.
Brought on as a 68th minute substitute in that game, Murphy lasted just five minutes before he had to be substituted himself as he picked up an injury.
Vale have options in central midfield with Kingsley James, Chris Shuker, Sam Morsy, Ryan Lloyd and new signing Chris Birchall all able to play in the central midfield role.
Manager Micky Adams told the official Port Vale website: “Darren is a model professional and although he hasn’t made as many first-team appearance as he would have liked at Vale Park, we wish him well for the future.”
Murphy’s Vale career:
Morecambe (A): 16 minutes
Wycombe (H): 54 minutes
Rochdale (H): 5 minutes
TOTAL: 75 minutes
