Micky Adams has told the Sentinel that the club “are negotiating with a player at the moment” and he hopes the move will be confirmed ahead of Vale’s game against League Two leaders Gillingham.
Until the body is in the building and signed the papers I won’t speculate…
Notts County striker Lee Hughes, former Aldershot striker Guy Madjo and Swindon defender Aden Flint have all been linked with moves to the Valiants and chairman Paul Wildes further increased speculation by tweeting that a “big signing” would be announced on Tuesday.
However, Wildes also tweeted that the signing of Darren Purse would be announced at half-time on Saturday (it was announced after the game instead) so there could be an element of “jumping the gun” with the chairman’s tweets.
Adams told the Sentinel that: “I haven’t seen the Twitter feed, if that’s the right word, that the chairman sends out.
“We are negotiating with a player at the moment and hopefully that will be sorted out sooner rather than later so it gives us another body in time for the game at Gillingham.
“As I’ve said many times, until the body is in the building and signed the papers I won’t speculate.”
