Vale’s Wimbledon trip to be shown on TV
The Football League have announced that Port Vale’s trip to League Two rivals AFC Wimbledon will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday 26th January, will move to Thursday 24th January (7:45pm) as a result.
The game will be Vale’s second appearance in front of the TV cameras this season after the Valiants’ game against Oxford United was shown on Sky Sports earlier this year.
Vale have won the last three games to be broadcast live – Oxford United H (October 2012) 3-0; Bradford City H (Feb 2011) 2-1 and the FA Cup game against Stevenage which was streamed live on the Internet (Nov 2009) 1-0.
However, Vale have NEVER won an away match against Wimbledon. The two sides first met in 1979 and the Dons have recorded six straight home victories since that first meeting.
Another thriller at Kingsmeadow?
Vale’s first trip to the Kingsmeadow stadium ended in a five goal thriller last season. Goals from Sam Morsy and Louis Dodds were not enough as Christian Jolley’s last-minute strike secured a 3-2 win for the hosts.
