Steve Fox RIP
Steve Fox RIP : OVF is deeply saddened to inform Port Vale fans that former Vale winger Steve Fox passed away at midday on Saturday.
OVF editor Rob Fielding was emailed by the Fox family and asked to inform Port Vale supporters of the sad news.
The Fox family reported that he died without pain at home and can finally rest in peace.
Fox made 82 Vale appearances between 1982 and 1984 and was told earlier this year that he was suffering from a rare form of cancer.
Messages from users of OVF were passed to the former Vale winger earlier this week and Steve thanked Vale fans for the “kind comments.”
Rob Fielding, editor of OVF said: “I am deeply saddened to hear of Steve’s passing away and the Fox family are very much in my thoughts right now.
“Steve’s memory will live on at Vale Park and his contribution to the 1982-83 promotion season will not be forgotten by an older generation of Port Vale fans.”
Fox also appeared for Chester City, Wrexham and Birmingham City.
If you have memories of Steve at Vale Park please do add a comment. We will collating them and passing on a book of remembrance to the Fox family, recalling Steve’s days at Vale Park.

Just had to post a comment on a forum that would allow me. I am a Forest fan and will never forget Steve playing for Wrexham against us in the FA cup at the City Ground. He was absolutely amazing that day, and I have never forgotten his performance even after all these years. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. Best wishes to his family. God Bless Steve.
