Adams: They ‘wanted it more’…
Micky Adams thought that visitors Chesterfield were worthy victors after the away side secured a 2-0 win over the Valiants on Saturday.
Our front two were starved of decent service…
Adams told the media: “Credit to Chesterfield because they looked as though they wanted it more than us.
“We didn’t create anywhere near enough. We had opportunities to put the ball into the box in the first-half, but we kept having an extra touch and that let us down.
“Our front two were starved of decent service. The pitch cutting up badly didn’t help, but it was the same for both sides and Chesterfield looked better than us.
“There were a few boos at the end, but we are having a decent season and we’ve got a big game at Cheltenham next Saturday when we will try to bounce back.
“When you lose games you can dig a hole and disappear, but we will dust ourselves down, work hard on the training ground and stick our heads above the parapet next weekend

I would never boo a team but I could understand the fans frustration after Saturday’s game. After three decades of absence from Vale Park (that’s what marriage can do!) I have returned this season and seen three games. Lost two – drawn one (after throwing away a 2 goal lead) – 2 goals for and 6 against. 1 point only. And pretty dire performances. I simply don’t understand our league position! Am I a jinx and should I stay away? Or should the manager stop blaming the pitch, the fans and the opposition’s ambition and look to himself as part of the problem? Sorry to say it but I’m not sure I’m going up the Vale again after what I saw on Saturday. The new owners deserve support and are right to want to improve the ‘match day experience’ – but for most fans the ‘match day experience’ starts and ends with the team doing the business.
