Valiants sign striker on short-term deal
Port Vale have announced that they have agreed a short-term deal with striker Calvin Andrew, who joins the club until January.
Andrew is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace in the summer and so Vale are allowed to sign the forward despite loan window closing last week.
Vale’s transfer deadline activities sparked controversy with the signings of Lee Hughes and Jed Wallace not being completed before the 5pm deadline and the moves subsequently being blocked by the Football League.
But the signing of Andrew will boost Micky Adams’ forward options and the manager told the official Port Vale website: “Calvin is a tall strong forward who has experience of playing in divisions higher than League 2. I believe he will be an asset to our squad and I’m looking forward to working with him.
