Then a mistake by Valiants central defender Clayton McDonald let in Hurst but goalkeeper Chris Neal made a good save.
It was a open game with both sides having chances but neither side were able to convert their chances in main thanks to good goalkeeping by both keepers.
In the closing minutes, Port Vale could have secured three points but Vincent and Tom Pope’s efforts were both saved as it ended all-square. Nevertheless, despite those late efforts being saved, it was still a valuable away point for Micky Adams’ Port Vale side.
