Aldershot 1-3 Port Vale
Aldershot 1-3 Port Vale: Ben Williamson made it six goals for the season as the Valiants stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a fine away win over Aldershot.
Micky Adams named an unchanged line-up with new signing Liam Chilvers on the bench. However, Chilvers was soon called upon as he replaced Clayton McDonald after 13 minutes.
Vale took the lead five minutes later, against the run of play, when Ben Williamson netted his sixth of the season. It was the 23 year-old’s fifth goal in nine games.
The home side equalised when Daniel Lopez scored from a header on the half-hour mark. Vale then came close to taking the lead when Pope’s header was cleared off the line just before the break.
But it had been a poor first-half display by Vale who had been second-best for much of the opening 45 minutes.
However, Vale made amends after the break when Pope’s attempt was saved and Burge netted for his third of the season.
The home side went close through Danny Rose’s free-kick while Vincent had a chance for the Valiants.
And Vale were able to wrap up the win on the hour mark when Myrie-Williams was brought down and the winger stepped up to score his seventh of the season.
And that proved to be enough for Vale to secure another good away victory.
