Sproson statue work enters final stages

The statue of Port Vale legend Roy Sproson has been erected outside the entrance to Vale Park ahead of its official unveiling.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played a part over the last 11 years in turning this tribute to the club’s greatest servant into a reality

A campaign to fund a statue of Port Vale’s longest serving player has been running for eleven years and should draw to a close on the 17th November when the statue is formally unveiled.

A statement from the Supporters Club said: “Port Vale Supporters’ Club is delighted to announce that today the Roy Sproson statue was finally erected at Vale Park ahead of the planned official unveiling ceremony next month.

“There is still plenty of work to do before then and the statue has now been covered over again.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played a part over the last 11 years in turning this tribute to the club’s greatest servant into a reality.”
