Grew hints at Murphy starting role
Vale coach Mark Grew has suggested to the Sentinel that Darren Murphy could start in midfield against Wycombe.
Darren got through 70 minutes on Wednesday and did well, so he’s put himself back in contention.
Ryan Burge (knee) has joined Doug Loft (calf) on the injury list, and with Sam Morsy serving a one-match ban for picking up five bookings, Vale’s options in the middle are limited.
“Darren got through 70 minutes on Wednesday and did well, so he’s put himself back in contention,” Grew told the newspaper.
“Ryan and Doug are ruled out, and with Sam suspended, we’re fortunate Darren has come through his injury and had some time on the pitch.
“We do have options, without question, but it’s about picking the right one that will help us beat Wycombe.
“Louis Dodds has played in midfield plenty of times and Kingsley James has been pushing for a place.
“We’ll sit down, discuss one or two things and make the adjustments we think are right.”
