Adams: squad is stretched now
Micky Adams told the media he was happy with the away draw against Burton Albion but he admitted that injury and suspension will stretch his resources.
The squad is stretched now, but there’s nothing we can do. We’ll just have to get on with it.
On the performance, Adams said: “It was a hard-fought draw and I’m happy with it. I certainly can’t fault the effort or application of the players. They gave it their all and their desire not to be beaten will stand us in good stead.”
But after Richard Duffy picked up an injury on Tuesday night, Adams added: “He’s twisted his ankle and it looks a bad one at the moment,” added Adams.
McDonald was also injured and replaced by Joe Davis. The defender would miss a match anyway after picking up his fifth booking of the season. Adams admitted: “The squad is stretched now, but there’s nothing we can do. We’ll just have to get on with it.
“Joe Davis might have to step up to the plate, or Gareth Owen, who is itching to play and has been disappointed not to be involved recently.”
