Grew hails ‘fantastic’ fans
Assistant manager Mark Grew has hailed Port Vale’s “fantastic” fans and says that “the good start has given us a lift.”
The good start has given us a lift and everyone has a smile on their face
Grew told the media: “I’m not surprised by the start we’ve had. The lads worked hard in pre-season and we’ve built a great spirit.
“When we had the problem with the players’ contracts before the first game, and nobody wanted to leave, the players were saying they believed in themselves to have a good season.
“The good start has given us a lift and everyone has a smile on their face at the moment.
“There’ll be a time when we’ll be a bit under the weather, but we’ll enjoy this while it lasts.”
Grew reckons the fans have also played a key role so far.
“The supporters have been fantastic – the atmosphere they create helps the team a frightening amount,” he said.
“There were 5,500 there on Saturday, but it felt like 10,000 with all the singing and cheering going on – it was like the old days.”
